Welcome to United Church Preschool (UCP). We are a high quality early childhood program for children ages 2 to 5. UCP is a small, non-profit preschool with low child/teacher ratios. The preschool operates weekdays from 9 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.. We also offer an extremely popular Lunch Bunch program until 1:00 p.m., where the children have lunch with their friends and teachers.
UCP offers classes for:
-Two and three-year olds (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday)
-Three and four-year olds (Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday/Friday)
-Four and five-year olds (Monday-Friday)
UCP is a program of the Board of Children’s Ministry of the Church of Chapel Hill (UCCH). UCP follows UCCH’s guiding principle of inclusion of all families regardless of “race, marital status, sexual orientation, means ability and spiritual tradition”. The preschool aims to enroll all children regardless of financial need. Upon demonstrated need, scholarships are provided. The preschool is governed by a parent Board of Directors. Please review the 2017-2018 UCP Parent Handbook for detailed information about our program.
The preschool is guided by the philosophy of learning through play. UCP strives to create an environment where your child learns how to share, create, cooperate, interact and solve problems. Children are given opportunities to participate in both structured and unstructured activities, in a group setting and individually, all within a warm and nurturing environment. This preschool experience can help your child develop independence and positive self-concept, while encouraging sharing and respect for others.
