2 and 3-year old Turtle Class
The Turtle classroom is a place for your child to play, explore, discover and grow. We strive to create a safe and supportive place for our youngest students to socialize outside of the home and begin to learn what it means to be part of an active and engaging classroom setting. Turtle students play, paint, sing, dance, read, cook, and explore the outdoors. Most importantly, we have a lot of fun, and we develop relationships that continue to grow throughout the Turtles' preschool tenure.
3 and 4-year old Fish Class
The Fish Class is a multi-age classroom where children explore, play, create and interact with their peers. The Fish teachers facilitate the learning of social skills and basic academic concepts. Carefully selected activities and work, in both large and small groups, allow children to grow in confidence and independence. Our students work one on one with the teachers each week on Handwriting Without Tears. Our class goal is to provide our Fishes with enough structure to make them feel safe and secure, while having lots of FUN and promoting a life-long love of learning.
4 and 5-year old Frog Class
In the Frog Class, we provide creative, hands-on learning experiences in a nurturing environment. We use Project Based Learning which means we investigate topics in depth. Children are involved in activities which supplement and compliment Project Based Learning. We encourage creative free play, while our small groups focus on Handwriting Without Tears. The Frogs explore and learn about music, nature,
literature, science, and social and emotional skills in our play-based/child-centered preschool class.
Although music and creative movement are already included in our daily schedule, each child will also attend a music class once a week. Our music teacher, Jane Waddell, brings a variety of instruments for the kids to use. This class also introduces music terms and concepts in an age appropriate way that will encourage musical growth in your children. The older classes put on a music program in December and the entire school comes out for Family Music Night in the Spring.
This optional lunchtime program begins in September and runs every day from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Lunch Bunch is open to all Fish and Frog students who are fully potty-trained. Lunch Bunch days are purchased on Parent Night (by personal check only). There will also be a few drop in spots available. For more information on the Lunch Bunch program, contact UCP Director, Mary Glish, at email@example.com.
